Our statements that 'One in six adults will have a mental health problem at any one time' and that 'Mental health is everyone’s business' are taken from the Department of Health's Executive Summary of New Horizons - Towards a shared vision for mental health:
Mental health problems are extremely common: one in six adults will have a mental health problem at any one time, and for half of these people the problem will last longer than a year. For some people, mental health problems last for many years, particularly if inadequately treated. (page 12)
Mental health is everyone’s business. In 2020 mental health will be seen as an important asset for our society, one in which we all have an investment and to which we all – individuals, employers, the third and statutory sectors, local authorities, the health services and all government departments – have an important contribution to make. (page 6)
